Manchester United suffered another injury blow yesterday as midfielder Nemanja Matic became the latest player to withdraw from international duty.

Matic had joined up with the Serbia squad to face Germany and Portugal this week, but national team manager Mladen Krstajic said: “Nemanja Matic will not play in Wolfsburg, nor in Lisbon. He played the last match in the club but did not stay in the field until the end.”

Matic joins Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial in withdrawing from their national team squads through injury, and Victor Lindelof who pulled out of Sweden’s fixtures for personal reasons.

Meanwhile, the latest transfer rumours link United with moves for French international pair Antoine Griezmann and Rafael Varane in the summer, with both reported to be considering their future at Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid respectively.
